The workshop will include:
•Practical discussions on challenges, needs, and implementation opportunities;
•Presentations on the latest methods for digital bridge integrity management;
•Open exchange between end-users and experts;
•Interactive breakout sessions to share feedback and experience.
May & June 2026 – 2nd BRIDGITISE Training School
In May and June 2026, the BRIDGITISE project will host its Intermediate Training School on Decision support for service life extension of bridges using digital technologies. This engaging programme offers Doctoral Candidates and early-career researchers a valuable opportunity to deepen their knowledge, exchange ideas with experts, and work collaboratively on real-world challenges in bridge infrastructure.
Co-organised with the Swedish Universities of the Built Environment (SBU) doctoral school, the Training School combines online preparation days (20-22 May 2026) with an in-person project week (9-12 June 2026) at Lund University. Participants will explore topics including probabilistic modelling, structural reliability, digital twins, AI-enhanced monitoring, and risk-informed decision support, while gaining hands-on experience through group project work and case studies. The full agenda and registration flyer are available here:
January 2026 – 1st BRIDGITISE Research workshop
On 21 January 2026, the project will host a one-day interactive research workshop in Ljubljana titled “From Research Questions to Collaborative Pathways in Digitalised Infrastructure.” Bringing together Doctoral Candidates, academic researchers, and industry experts, the workshop combines industry panels, research pitches, and interactive sessions to align doctoral research with real-world challenges in digitalised bridge infrastructure. Through thematic discussions on digital twins, AI-enhanced monitoring, and cybersecure risk-informed decision support, participants will jointly develop Collaboration Notes that define shared research directions and next steps, strengthening collaboration across the project.
January 2026 – 1st BRIDGITISE End-Users workshop
Invitation
We are proud to invite you to the first End-Users Workshop of the BRIDGITISE project, dedicated to advancing the digital transformation of Bridge Integrity Management. BRIDGITISE Marie Curie Industrial Doctorate network is the first of its kind within the EU that will pave the way to the training of new generations of researchers and professionals with expertise in Digitalized Bridge Integrity Management.
This interactive full-day event is open to all infrastructure owners and operators, engineers, researchers, academics, technology providers, and policy-makers toexplore innovative digital tools and methods for monitoring, maintenance, and management of bridge assets.
Highlights
The workshop will feature:
•Presentations and discussions on state-of-the-art approaches in digital bridge integrity management
•Opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration between end-users and experts
•Interactive breakout sessions to gather feedback and insights from end-users
•Group discussions focused on practical challenges, user needs, and opportunities for implementation.
Mark your calendars for January 22nd and join us at the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute (ZAG) in Ljubljana to discover how digitalization is shaping the future of bridge infrastructure.

May 2025 – mid-term checks and first BRIDGITISE Training school
On 8-9 May 2025, we underwent a mid-term check by the European officer to assess the progress and implementation of the project. Overall, we received very positive feedback, which motivates us to continue improving the project for the benefit of European bridge management. Furthermore, the first BRIDGITISE Training School took place from 12–16 May 2025 at the University of Twente, bringing together PhD candidates, top academics, and industry professionals for a focused week of learning, hands-on work, and team-building. Find out more about the mid-term checks and the Training School.

November 2024 – Highlights from the Consortium meeting in Bari
The second BRIDGITISE Consortium Meeting was held on November 14 -15, 2024, in Bari, Italy, and was organized by Politecnico di Bari.
This meeting brought together DCs and project partners to discuss progress and future directions for BRIDGITISE.
Members of the External Advisory Board, including Prof. Jesús Rodríguez Santiago (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid), Dr. Marianna Loli (Grid Engineers), and Prof. Helmut Wenzel (Wenzel Consult), participated in the discussions, contributing valuable insights to the project’s development.
January 2024 – Bridgitise Kick off
The kickoff meeting of the BRIDGITISE project was held on January 24th and 25th, with Professor Maria Pina Limongelli serving as the Project Coordinator.
The meeting kicked off the project in style! All the partners gathered around the table for some fruitful brainstorming.
“The bridge integrity management sector lags in digitalization compared to other industries. To fill this gap, academia and industry must collaborate closely, with a focus on needs-driven research and knowledge transfer” said the Coordinator.
BRIDGITISE will take up these challenges, proposing a new paradigm for the first Industrial Doctoral Network within the EU that will pave the way to the training of new generations of researchers and professionals with expertise in digital BrIM.
But hey, it wasn’t all business! the kick-off meeting was also a chance for the partners to get to know each other better and have a blast in beautiful Milan!
