Hoang-Nam Le

Background

I am Hoang-Nam Le, a Vietnamese national from Ho Chi Minh City. I hold an Engineer’s Degree (Diplôme d’Ingénieur) in Civil Engineering, specializing in Building and Energy Efficiency from l’Institut Polytechnique De Ho Chi Minh Ville, in partnership with l’École des Ponts ParisTech and INSA Lyon, France. I also studied at INSA Lyon through an Erasmus scholarship. My graduation thesis focused on high-rise building design, integrating Architecture, Energy Efficiency, Structural, and Geotechnical Engineering. My research interests include mathematical, data, and numerical analysis within physics-based simulations. Professionally, I’ve progressed from an intern in Site and Structural Engineering to founding a technical drawing company, and now serve as the APAC regional manager for Tremco CPG, a European manufacturer specializing in seismic and fire protection products. I earned this role by generating €1.5 million in sales from zero, with the Long Thanh International Airport project (total capital: $16 billion USD). This success highlighted my networking and communication skills. Personally, I believe that reading is the most important hobby in my life, as it helps me continuously acquire knowledge in various aspects.

Motivation

I aimed for DC14: CORROSION – Hybrid Modelling of Corrosion in Reinforced Concrete Structures Using Heterogeneous Data because I have always excelled in mathematics and numerical analysis. This project perfectly aligns with my background and passion. Contributing to the development of mathematical models alongside Bayesian Probabilistic Network (BPN) models to integrate data from heterogeneous sources and combining them with physics-based models will mark a significant milestone in my academic career. My strong background in mathematics, honed through two years of rigorous preparation typical of the French engineering school system, will enable me to maximize my potential in this role. This industrial network program, which includes experiences at Polimi in Italy, Lund University in Sweden, and Socotec Monitoring in France, will provide me with the opportunity to enhance my networking skills and bridge the gap between academic and industrial approaches. The best aspect of this program is that it won’t limit my career path to academia or industry, allowing me to reach my full potential.
